Greetings from Asbury Park:
First and foremost, Asbury Park is reaching out to do their part to support all the relief efforts to assist so many in need in Haiti.  So please help out with Aid to Haiti and call the Coalition for Haitian-American Empowerment at 732.455.5546. HELP!

This is one of those great music weekends in Asbury Park.  It all starts with the  10th Annual Light of Day concerts that span the whole weekend.  All proceeds from these concerts benefit Parkinson’s Disease Research & Education.    The participating venues are:
Friday, Jan 15th the Stone Pony
Saturday, Jan 16th: The Wonder Bar & The Paramount Theatre
Sunday, Jan 17th:  Watermark, Langosta Lounge & McLoone’s Supper Club

BookFLX, a new series of author interviews begins this Sunday, Jan 17th at The Showroom,  The movie Big Fish will be screen at 4 PM and at 6 PM Daniel Wallace, the author of the book that the movie was based on, will dial in for a live, on-screen discussion about the book and the movie.  BookFLX will be a regular monthly event and is the collaborative product of Splash of Red, words! and The Showroom.  Only in Asbury Park!

Monday, January 18th is the official Dr. Martin Luther King Day.  The municipal office and library will be closed in his honor.  The city’s celebration will take  place on Saturday, January 23th at 2 PM in the City Hall Council Chambers.  More information will be included nest week.
